Go Lance!

We figured we couldn't miss the race ... so packed up the car and made it happen. We took the overnight ferry to Germany (not that we saw much because we were asleep with jet lag). In the morning we spent the day driving through Germany and into Switzerland. It was pretty darn fun to drive on the autobahn, although I didn't really get to chance to go that fast with all the construction. The next day we drove into France and made our way to Courchevel ... and 'The Tour'!

The first day of the tour was great. We sat and watched cyclist come up the mountain then found a spot and sat and waited. There is so much that happens before the riders come, it's a blast to watch. Then all of the sudden you hear the hum of the helicopters ... then you see them .. the riders! It was so great. But also hard to figure out who is who. Although Lance was pretty easy. It all happened so fast. We watched the end from a pub ... so great! We decided to stay the night where we were instead of waiting in traffic forever.

The next morning we got early and drove to the next stage. We were on the top of a mountain with a unbelievable view. This day we were able to watch the riders for longer since we were on the top of a switchback. It's just so darn impressive watching how fast they go up those mountains. That day we got to see Lance with the entire Discovery Team in front of him pulling him up the hill. Wow!

After that we left the tour (a bit sad but we really needed a shower), and headed to Italy. We went through he Mount Blanc tunnel and made our way to our beautiful campground in an Italian national park, the Aosta Valley. We spent the following day hiking up in the mountains and a crazy, amazing hike. Just so pretty.

After a couple days we left Italy and went over more windy roads to Switzerland. Also so pretty. We were up in the Alps again in a campsite right under the north face of the Eiger. We spent a lot of time there just enjoying the scenery. It was so pretty that it looked fake.

Then we had to head back home. Lots of driving on the autobahn again and then a ferry trip. The entire trip was wonderful!! and GO LANCE!

girls day

So mom and I decided to go play on Monday. We headed inland to Napa valley to get more sun and warmth. We went to lunch and had wonderful salads in Calistoga. Then I had found a walk that we could do of the area so we switched into our walking gear and headed out. Neither of us have walked around the neighborhoods before so it was so fun to look at all the houses and beautiful hill sides. It was a beautiful day. Then yesterday when we were out running errands in Santa Rosa we stopped at a winery at has lavender gardens. I've never seen so much lavender before (or bees). It was so pretty and just smelled wonderful!
